With this heat wave we’ve been having in the city, it’s hard to believe fall will ever come. I’ve never really understood how it can be 92 degrees, “feels like” 104 degrees. Wouldn’t it just be 104 degrees? (If you please know the technicalities of this, please advise all of us in the comments below. I’m serious.)
However, autumn, wherever you are… I’m ready for you!
n the spirit of preparedness and gearing up for the next season, I wanted to share with you guys this dress I found on boohoo.com. It’s the perfect summer to fall transitional dress.
I consider my traditional pieces rare wardrobe gems. They’re the ones that stay in the front of your closet 365 days a year since you don’t have to worry about storing them away during a season change.
Growing up in Southern California, my whole wardrobe consisted of pieces like this— we considered 50 degrees to be freezing cold. However, in New York City, not so much. It’s crazy to think that in 3 months the temperature will be 60 degrees lower than it is today.
Which brings me to why I love this dress so much…
Even though it’s black and long sleeved, it’s lightweight and airy enough for hot summer days. Seriously, you’d be surprised at how breezy this dress is. It’s super breathable, and its wide sleeves make it so the fabric doesn’t stick to your skin ever.
When the early fall months roll around, I’ll be looking forward to styling it with boots and a scarf, and maybe even a big floppy felt hat to really amp up the dress’s boho feel. Even though the dress is made out of a lightweight fabric, it will be easy to get away with wearing it in September and October since it’s black and has hints of autumnal colors like eggplant and burnt orange.
Have a great weekend!
