Is this the most spectacular thing you’ve ever seen?
…Or have I just lost my mind?
Carousels, elevators, retro hotel corridors—you name it. Marc Jacobs’ spectacular displays during his 16 year tenure at Louis Vuitton have managed to capture our imaginations, expand the industry’s creative horizons, and completely redefine the meaning of fashion “show.”
Jacobs set a standard of performance art so high, that it’s become questionable if even he would be able to live up to his own expectation come next season. Upon his recent announcement of his resignation at Louis Vuitton, many began to speculate what he had in store for today’s grand finale…as the French say.
The result: An overwhelmingly dark Spring collection featuring larger-than-life headdresses made out of ostrich plumes.
Yes, ostrich plumes.
It’s nice to see the solitary bird of fashion is finally getting her day in the sun—er…limelight.
It goes without saying that Madame is extremely pleased, and will be purchasing one immediately.
